How did you come up with the idea and desire to work together?

Thomas Lépine: We've been offering textile collaborations on our iconic products for several years now, notably the LEVO bouncer. We've collaborated with a number of brands we love, mainly from the maternity and toddler world, such as Louise Misha, Lucas du Tertre, Rose in April or Garbo & Friends... But this year, we really wanted to get off the beaten track and go for more adult brands, in decor or fashion. The girls on the team are big fans of Modetrotter and immediately mentioned the brand during our office brainstorms.

Marie Courroy: It's a brand that was already on my mind when I was pregnant. I dreamed of having one of their bouncers for my daughter. I did, and it's been a brand I've sincerely loved ever since. When Marie, Charlie Crane's Communications Manager, suggested that we do something together, I said "yes" spontaneously.

How did Modetrotter and Charlie Crane meet?

Thomas Lépine: It just so happened that we'd already given Marie Courroy some little chairs for her children, so we'd been in touch on Instagram. We pitched the idea of a collaboration to her one Friday evening, at 6:40 pm. At 6:45 p.m., she replied that she'd love to!

What did you want to achieve with this collaboration?

Marie Courroy: I wanted a print that wasn't too "namby-pamby", not too babyish. A print I could wear, with a touch of fluorescent for fun. Something that would be beautiful to look at. We chose leopard! Animal print always works. I wanted to dress it up with a touch of fluorescent orange, because it's very Modetrotter. I wanted a print that was different from Charlie Crane's usual collections.

Thomas Lépine: We gave Marie two options: leopard or fluorescent, in an 80's spirit. She combined the two with her usual talent! We love the result, which is at once elegant, understated and undeniably sharp.

What other decorative objects should the Modetrotter X Charlie Crane collaboration be paired with?

Marie Courroy: In the kids' room, I have a Pierre Frey wallpaper that I love. I love the mix of prints in children's rooms, leopard and patterned wallpaper for the little ones. I love Les doudous obviously with Jelly Cat which are the best, or Big Stuffed. I love giant stuffed animals, they're my childhood madeleine.

Thomas Lépine: An orange TOGO sofa, of course! And why not a smoked glass coffee table on a fluffy white shag carpet.

What do you like about Modetrotter and Charlie Crane?

Thomas Lépine: Travel inspirations. Shootings in the four corners of the world... Modetrotter is a wardrobe you want to wear for dinner with friends in Paris, on a roadtrip in the USA, on vacation in Cap Ferret or with your girlfriends in Bamako.

Marie Courroy: I love their Baby rocker, their wall-mounted changing table, and I'm discovering their toddler bed that my daughter recently adopted. I've also used their Baby rocker and I have two adorable little chairs. I love the timelessness of their products. They're simple, effective and beautiful.

By the way, Marie, how did you and your partner Edouard choose your children's names?

Marie Courroy: I absolutely wanted a girl with the name Java. Édouard had another name in mind, and neither of us would give up. In the end, we drew lots and... I won! For Robinson, I had a flash and a crush on this name. It really was like a flash on the way back from the market one day, it just came to me. And Édouard, who didn't really have anything in mind, said yes right away.

How old are your children today? Do they use Charlie Crane products on a daily basis?

Marie Courroy: My daughter is 3 and a half. She uses the single bed, which she loves. My son is 2 and spends all his time relaxing in the bouncer, as if it were a chaise longue, with the little comforter over his legs. So much fun!

Marie, with Edouard, what would you like to pass on to your children?

Marie Courroy: Kindness, caring for others and loving yourself.

Marie, if you could give just one piece of advice to the primipara you were, the one who never had children, what would it be?

Marie Courroy: Thank God we can be very happy without offspring!

What's the Proust madeleine that takes you back to childhood?

Marie Courroy: Smells. They bring back the best memories.

Thomas Lépine: At Charlie's, it's the children of tomorrow who inspire us most, so we look to the future 🙂

Thanks to Marie and Thomas! The collaboration consists of the Baby rocker LEVOthe TOBO highchair cushion, and the KUKO bassinet.
