A new arrival has just expanded our range of products for babies and toddlers! After the iconic LEVO bouncer, the TIBU high chair, the KUMI cradle (and all the others…), discover the latest member of the Charlie Crane family: the SABA, queen of little chairs, whose irresistible design will charm young and old alike. To find out more about this exciting new addition, we put a few questions to Gaspard Tiné-Berès, head of design at Charlie Crane, who created the SABA.
1 / Hello Gaspard! Can you tell us where the name SABA comes from?
At Charlie Crane, we have a system for finding our product names: 4 letters, consonant/vowel. SABA was born when I saw my daughter sitting on the very first prototype of the chair: she looked like a little queen on her throne.
2 / Was there a responsible approach in the creation of this little chair?
Yes, like everything we do at Charlie Crane. First, it comes in flat-pack: it is shipped in the flattest possible packaging, which significantly reduces the impact of transport. Then, all materials are natural and made in Europe: the SABA is made from raw beech from Slovenia, 100% Italian wool felt, with cruelty-free certified wool and dye free from chemicals.
3 / Can you tell us about the choice of materials?
This chair has something rustic about it, a raw spirit, and the materials are consistent with that identity: light, untreated beech, real wool in thick felt that ensures quality both aesthetically and mechanically. It's simple but beautiful! In all objectivity ;)
4 / How do you see the Charlie Crane "kids" range in a few years' time?
We try to create iconic products, so it's not that simple and it takes time (laughs). But rather than launching lots of products every year (which would already exist or look like something already seen on the market), we try to innovate by offering families furniture that truly moves us. Furniture they will genuinely love, keep for a long time, and pass on… Beyond the development side, there are so many exciting topics at Charlie Crane: first, we're working hard to relocate production as much as possible. Then, the team has grown a great deal in a short time, and it's a real effort to ensure that everyone feels in their right place and is happy to come to work in the morning. So far, we've only recruited gems, so we keep growing… and dreaming big!
Ideal for children aged 18 months to 6 years, the SABA chair will quickly become the favourite in the whole house!
