Charlie & Friends: Hello Jérémy!

We discovered Chair Chaise on Instagram and, as design lovers, we adore following Jérémy's vintage finds. Behind this account with its thousand chairs hides a passionate bargain-hunting dad with a love of vintage furniture, flea markets, beautiful chairs and… Charlie Crane, of course! A meeting of minds.
Charlie & Friends : Bonjour Jérémy !
Jérémy, founder of ChairChaise

1 — Hello Jérémy! Could you introduce yourself in a few words: your age, what you do for a living, and who makes up your family?

I'm 32. A few years ago I launched a vintage tableware rental business that keeps my days busy, and of course ChairChaise, which lets me indulge my passion for flea markets and is taking up more and more space in my life. At home, there are 4 of us: Adeline, whom I met in a previous professional life, Eliott the whirlwind who is 2 and a half, and, since last August, our princess, Elisabeth.

2 — When/how did you discover Charlie Crane and what was the first product you had?

We discovered Charlie Crane when Eliott arrived, but it was really with Elisabeth that we took the plunge: when I saw the LEVO bouncer on Instagram, I told myself we just had to have it!

3 — As a new dad, would you say the LEVO bouncer saved your life?

Absolutely! It mostly frees up my arms! It's not always easy to put the little one down on her mat, especially now that she rolls around in every direction. Not to mention that Elisabeth loves rocking in it while waving her arms — she makes us laugh!

The LEVO is, when all is said and done, the hands-free kit for new parents ;)

4 — Could you tell us about Chair Chaise: the genesis of the project, its concept, and your little secrets for tracking down such beautiful pieces?

ChairChaise is, first and foremost, a pleasure! I've always loved the chair as an object and, when we wanted to replace our vintage Tolix to go further into design, I sort of "got my fingers in the jam jar". I became passionate about designer chairs and, more broadly, about design.

Design is a vast playground!

At first, the Instagram account was just a way to show my personal collection. Little by little, I started offering a few chairs for sale on the page, then more and more, until it became almost a daily thing! The biggest secret to finding beautiful pieces isn't really a secret at all: you have to love it and spend time on it! You can find beautiful things everywhere — that's what's great about it. There are no rules, and there's also an element of luck.

5 — Which designers particularly inspire you?

I admit I have a soft spot for French designers from the 1950s and 60s such as Roger Landault, René Jean Caillette and Joseph André Motte. Beyond their fine names, their work is truly magnificent — what appears to be simplicity, but always with exactly the right lines and details. I'm also not immune to Danish design.

6 — Are there other brands in the children's world that you particularly love?

I'll be honest, Adeline is more of the expert at home. But, on the clothing front, I love Eliott's subscription with Gamin Gamine: simple and effective!

7 — 3 Instagram accounts that inspire you every day?

Not easy!
@lalune.decoration: first of all, I have no idea how they find everything they find, but above all — the photos! They're always just right, with exactly the right staging. Beautiful and soft!
@brutgroup: a totally different register but I love it! I can lose hours scrolling through their feed! All those buildings, all that concrete — sometimes a bit brutal, but I love it!
And then @chair.only. Does one really need to explain why?
