The charming city of Montpellier has a delightful sing-song accent, as well as a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. Discover our ideal itinerary for a family weekend in Montpellier.

Day 1 in Montpellier

Start by visiting the Place de la Comédie and admire its Haussmann-style architecture. Then, go explore the historic Ecusson quarter, with its cobblestone alleyways and 18th-century townhouses. Walk up the avenue Foch, then take a stroll along the Peyrou promenade. Admire the view and wave to the Pic Saint-Loup in the distance. Time for lunch! Stop at the Broc Café for a gourmet break, then head to the Jardin des Plantes where the kids can nap in the stroller while you admire the plants. In the afternoon, do a little shopping for the children. Head to the rue de l'Ancien Courrier and the Saint-Roch quarter, including the shop Les Petites Choses for children and Serendipity for lovely home décor. In the evening, stay in the old town for dinner.

Day 2 in Montpellier

Today, we recommend heading out to explore the surroundings. Think about the Carnon beach in the morning, when it's not too crowded and the sun isn't blazing yet… Feel like visiting a historic citadel? Head to the town of Aigues-Mortes for lunch and its salt marshes (book the little train in advance). Back in Montpellier, take another stroll through the old town for dinner and a well-deserved ice cream. Our favorite ice cream spots: La Banquise and Padova.
