Baby registry: the checklist of everything to prepare before your baby arrives

Liste de naissance : la checklist de tout ce qu’il faut préparer avant l'arrivée de bébé

Here it is: the all-important checklist to share, print or simply tick off as you get ready for your baby’s arrival. At Charlie Crane, we know that every parent-to-be can feel a little overwhelmed by how many things there are to buy, which sizes to choose and, above all, how many of each to get.

So we’ve put together a ready-to-use list to make life easier. And if you’re reading this today, perhaps you’re expecting a baby in spring 2027, so we’ve tailored the list accordingly.

Clothes and wardrobe

First things first — and this is an important one! If you have an estimated birth weight for your baby, all the better. If not, play it safe and choose standard sizes. On average, a baby measures 50 cm at birth and grows very quickly in the first few weeks.

Bear in mind that your baby will only wear newborn or even one-month sizes for a very short time. So choose clothes in newborn, one-month and three-month sizes.

- 6 to 8 bodysuits, preferably wrap-front ones. Avoid poppers all the way down, or you’ll spend ages fastening them…

If your baby is born in spring, when the weather can be changeable, make sure you have both short- and long-sleeved clothes.

- 6 to 8 cotton sleepsuits

- 2 or 3 little cardigans or jackets in cotton or a soft, warmer fabric

- 2 or 3 pairs of trousers or sleepsuits

- A few T-shirts, though your baby will spend a lot of time in sleepsuits

- One or two lovely outfits for introducing your baby to the family, for example

- Accessories: a few pairs of little socks, one or two hats for your newborn and a pair of booties

- 2 sleeping bags so you have a spare in case of accidents, suited to the temperature

- Muslins! In all sizes, but our DOLI has just come out in XL, perfect for use anywhere, anytime, especially in spring to protect your baby from the wind, for example!

Furniture for the nursery and living room

Your home will change room by room as you prepare to welcome your baby, but don’t panic: with a little thought, organisation and a good to-do list, it can be just as cosy as ever.

- A baby bouncer to put your little one down in, like our iconic LEVO, for example?

- A crib or bedside crib, whichever you prefer

- A carrycot like our KUKO, so you can take your baby anywhere around the house or outdoors!

- Storage baskets for tossing all the little toys into in a flash

Finally, your baby will spend an enormous amount of time feeding, so it’s worth planning a little ahead for what comes next to delight their taste buds.

- Baby bottles if you’re using formula or combination feeding

- A breast pump if you’re breastfeeding

- A baby food maker to prepare for weaning, which is just around the corner (between 4 and 6 months)

This checklist covers all the baby essentials, and if you like it, we’ll put together a checklist for mums-to-be very soon!
