Baby registry: the checklist of everything to prepare before baby arrives

Liste de naissance : la checklist de tout ce qu’il faut préparer avant l'arrivée de bébé

Here it is: the all-important checklist to send, print, or simply check off bit by bit as you prepare for your baby’s arrival. At Charlie Crane, we know that every parent-to-be feels a little overwhelmed by how much there is to buy—and by all the sizes and, especially, quantities.

So we’ve put together a ready-to-use list to make life easier. And if you’re reading this today, perhaps you’re expecting a baby in spring 2027, so we’ve tailored the list with that in mind.

Clothes and wardrobe

First things first—and this is a big one! If you have an estimate of your baby’s weight, all the better. If not, play it safe and choose standard sizes. The average baby is 50 cm long at birth and grows very quickly in the first few weeks.

Keep in mind that your baby will wear newborn and even 1-month sizes for only a very short time. So choose clothes in newborn, 1-month, and 3-month sizes.

- 6 to 8 bodysuits, preferably with a wrap-style closure—definitely not snaps all the way down, or you'll spend ages fastening them…

If your baby is born in spring, when the weather can be unpredictable, be sure to get both short- and long-sleeved clothes.

- 6 to 8 cotton pajamas

- 2 or 3 little cardigans or jackets in cotton or a slightly warmer, snuggly fabric

- 2 or 3 pairs of pants or one-piece outfits

- A few T-shirts, though your baby will spend a lot of time in pajamas

- One or two nice outfits for meeting the family, for example

- Accessories: a few pairs of little socks, one or two newborn hats, a pair of booties

- 2 sleep sacks suited to the temperature, so you can swap one out if there's an accident

- Muslin cloths! In all sizes, but our DOLI just came out in XL for use anywhere, anytime—especially in spring, to shield your baby from the wind, for example!

Furniture for the nursery and living room

Your home will change room by room to welcome your baby, but don’t panic: with a little thought, some organization, and a good to-do list, it can be every bit as cozy.

- A baby bouncer where you can put your little one down, like our iconic LEVO, for example?

- A cradle or bedside bassinet, whichever you prefer

- A bassinet like our KUKO, so you can carry your baby anywhere around the house and outdoors!

- Storage baskets to toss all those little toys into in no time

Time to eat!

Finally, your baby will spend a lot of time eating, so it’s worth planning a little ahead for what comes next to delight their taste buds.

- Bottles if you’re formula-feeding or combination-feeding

- A breast pump if you’re breastfeeding

- A baby food maker to prepare for starting solids, which is coming up fast (between 4 and 6 months)

- Baby dishes

- Bibs

- A high chair that you can even use from birth, and for a long time!

This checklist covers all the baby essentials, and if you like it, we’ll put together a checklist for moms-to-be very soon!
