We tested it: May, the app that (really) helps future and new parents

Almost five years already since MAY has been revolutionizing the lives of future and new parents in France! This app, founded by a couple who are parents of two children, Cécilia and Antoine Creuzet, has been winning numerous awards since its creation. The idea behind MAY is actually simple: to answer the many questions parents have. Thanks to a team of healthcare professionals, this app responds 7 days a week to everything that keeps you up at night. So? A true revolution or just a PR stunt? Two Charlie Crane team members put it to the test for you! Here's the story.

On a testé : May l’appli qui aide (vraiment) les futurs et jeunes parents

Alice, marketing manager, pregnant with her first child.

- How did you hear about the MAY app?

It may be a little biased since I'm immersed in the world of childcare at Charlie Crane, but I downloaded it following recommendations from people around me: satisfied colleagues and friends who also use it!

- When did you download it?

First to track my cycles, then I was very glad to have it from the very first days of my pregnancy.

- Concretely, how does MAY help you on a daily basis during your pregnancy?

From the moment I got a positive pregnancy test, I felt like I had crossed over into a completely unknown dimension. This is my first pregnancy and I didn't know "where to start". In that regard, the guides available on the app really pointed me in the right direction: the first medical appointments to book, what you are and aren't allowed to do/eat! I have just over 2 months of pregnancy left and I haven't missed a single "Tip of the Day" — it's a little daily treat, you discover something new every day! I also note all my appointments in the app, along with my pregnancy tracking — I love being able to have all the information in one place.

- The killer question: how is MAY different from other pregnancy apps?

First of all, I find the user experience really high quality — it's an app that makes you want to use it. Finding information is easy thanks to the themes, the content offered is tailored to our pregnancy progress, the guides are great. I don't like having too many apps, so after a few weeks of use, once I was sure I was satisfied, I stayed loyal! The fact that May offers support from cycle tracking all the way through to after the birth of the child is, for me, the best argument.

- Do you have the free version?

Until now I had the free version, but here I am entering the final stretch — the third trimester! I feel even more the need to be reassured and to learn about all these big changes that are coming (at lightning speed!), so it's decided: we're going to go for the subscription.

- Do you think you'll use it after the birth?

Yes of course, once again I only received great feedback from people around me! New parents can log, for example, bottle feeds or breastfeeding sessions, and being able to chat with healthcare professionals every day, having access to reliable information all in one place, is truly reassuring for new parents. This is our first baby and knowing how quickly time flies, I think it's important to have support at every stage, not just during pregnancy and the first few months!

Marie, communications manager, mother of two children.

- How did you hear about the MAY app?

I've been using it for so long that I don't really remember! I think that

it's thanks to Instagram that I discovered it — it's still my main source of information

main source for everything concerning my children.

- When did you download it? Do you have the free version?

I think I downloaded it in 2021, at the very beginning of its existence, when my eldest son

was about 2 years old. And no, I didn't stay on the free version: I very quickly

subscribed!

- Did you already have MAY during your last pregnancy? If so, how did you use it?

Yes, I was even using it before getting pregnant, during our baby-trying phase. On MAY, there is

midwives who answer the most personal questions precisely and reassuringly

intimate. It's truly a reassuring support that guides us every step of the way.

- Concretely: how do you use it?

Whenever I have a concern about my children's health or development, I

consult MAY. It's simple, quick, and the professionals are very reassuring. They don't give

don't always have all the answers and often recommend seeing a doctor, but that's

already an initial diagnosis. They know how to tell whether it's urgent or whether it can wait, whether we should

rush to the emergency room… or simply give a Doliprane! Just that alone saves quite a few

nights. Latest topics: a small dry patch on Lise's cheek, and a question about Tristan's baby teeth.

- In your opinion, what are the little extras of the App?

The hours, for a start: having healthcare professionals available at your fingertips until 10 pm is

fantastic! Being able to create several separate conversations for yourself (with a midwife, for example) or for each of your children, so as not to mix everything up, is really handy. And then there's the discreet side: you can ask any question, even those you think are "silly". With MAY, there are no bad questions, and you never feel like you're bothering anyone.

- And on the flip side, what are its limitations?

Sometimes, you'd like an answer right away, especially when it comes to the health of

our children. The professionals don't take risks and, if necessary, refer us

to the pediatrician or the family doctor.

- Finally, do you recommend it to those around you?

Absolutely! I even got some friends to subscribe, because it's a great baby shower gift,

especially for a first-time mother. Today, my children are 3 and 6 years old, so I use it

use it a little less than before. But I already know I'm going to have a hard time deleting the app!

It's so reassuring to know that we have this luxury: being able to talk to someone when you

need it.
