Between packing your hospital bag, making the crucial choice of stroller, and selecting newborn clothes, you'll also find the nursery high on your list! Here are our best tips for equipping, decorating, furnishing, and assembling the most beautiful haven for your future newborn.
1 - A quality sleeping area
It's probably THE first purchase you make for your future child, and for good reason: babies sleep a lot! Up to 20 hours a day when they're newborns… So, whether you've fallen for a KUKO Moses basket that can be taken anywhere or a KODO co-sleeping crib for other rooms in the house, the bed remains the centerpiece of the baby's room. At Charlie, we offer the very classic and soothing KUMI wooden crib or our latest convertible LUGO crib . This wooden bed accompanies your baby from birth until they're… 7 years old! Thanks to its oval shape, reminiscent of the curves of an egg, and its gently angled bars, it's incredibly comforting for baby's first months. At 2 years old, it transforms into a junior bed before becoming a toddler bed for children aged 4 to 7. Ideally, LUGO can even be kept as a bench in any interior, making it a lasting addition to your home! For us, it's a choice of the heart, both safe, durable, timeless and always stylish to dress up a room with elegance.
2 - High-quality paint with blime
Choosing the colors for a child's room... it's quite an art!
That's why we've partnered with blime , the premium, French-made paint brand, because we share the same values: a responsible approach, sustainable production, artisanal expertise, respect for raw materials, and a commitment to impeccable quality. Indeed, blime offers 100% water-based paint ranges with very low VOC formulas that preserve indoor air quality. Furthermore, each order is tinted to order only!
Here are some ideas for combining our furniture with some Blime colors:
- For a clean and gentle atmosphere: the Honey Moon, Pottery Mood or Goudes Enough shades, which perfectly complement the LUGO convertible bed or the KUKO bassinet
- for a bedroom that stimulates awakening and development: Colonel Mustard, On Mute, Okinawa Fog which go well with the KIMI lichen bed, the KUKO farrow bassinet.
- for a cozy space between stimulation and rest: Spaghetti Western or Road Trip are two shades that work with the KIMI bed in rosewood.
Note that there are a thousand and one combinations and the only limit is your imagination!

3 - A suitable changing area
The changing table is also an essential element in the baby's room. Undressing clothes, changing diapers, giving a massage… It has countless uses and must be practical, safe, and also suited to the room. For this reason, we offer the PAGO changing table with its two gently curved storage shelves. Classic, practical, durable, and stylish: it blends seamlessly into any interior. When baby no longer needs the changing table, PAGO transforms into a small children's desk! Magic.
Finally, our second option: the NOGA wall-mounted changing table . It's one of our signature items. This table saves space thanks to its folding design that tucks neatly against the wall. It's comfortable, safe, and adjustable to your preferred height. Another plus? Its storage compartments keep all your baby products, toys, and diapers within easy reach!
Note that the changing table is not necessarily in the baby's room but can be placed in a bathroom.
4 - Baby's room must-haves:
- Storage: whether it's for toys, clothes, diapers, toiletries… Consider incorporating small storage units or other chests, baskets, or bins, so you don't quickly find yourself overwhelmed! Sure, it's a toddler, but they're already very well-equipped!
- Decorating (in small touches): keep it simple! Baby will grow quickly, and the room will need to adapt over time. We therefore advise against a radical or overly busy decor. Instead, add small touches of pretty objects that suit your taste, without cluttering the room.
- A night light: essential! A small, soft night light for nighttime awakenings, the evening ritual, short nights or simply a quiet time.
- a playmat: Baby will gradually awaken during his first year of life, so consider putting a playmat somewhere in his room so that he (and you too) are comfortable by his side.
Pssst, at Charlie we've designed the TAMI playmat and its design adapts to your interior thanks to 7 different colours! Match it with the NAHO wooden toy arch .
- Frames and posters: these are a must, as a beautiful framed poster instantly adds a lovely tone and style. It's an element that can be both stimulating for the baby and comforting as they grow, because it's carefully chosen by their parents…
- an armchair or a relaxation area: if you can, choose a comfortable seat or set up a cozy little spot! Ideal for settling down when you're looking after the baby, breastfeeding or bottle-feeding in a calm and soothing atmosphere.
- Safety: you must quickly think about protecting electrical outlets and furniture where he could bump into things, even when he's very young!
In conclusion, enjoy yourself! It's a magical moment, shape it to your liking, imagine you're preparing your nest to welcome your little one in a space that reflects you… That's the most important thing.
